What to Wear Next to your Skin
For several decades Helly Hansen Workwear has developed underwear for extreme sports and expeditions in some of the worst environments known on earth to man. Based on this experience Helly Hansen has launched Helly Hansen Base Layer/Underwear a unique workwear underwear collection designed to work in conjunction with our work trousers and other workwear garments. Made from Polypropylene fibre Helly Hansen Bodywear absorbs almost no moisture, provides excellent ventilation and pushes perspiration away from the body. As a result you avoid cooling down during breaks or periods of lower work intensity- so you stay dry, warm and comfortable.
Not all underwear is equal and it is more than possible to maximise the performance of your underwear to match the conditions in which you are forced to work. You should take into account the outside temperature, the intensity of the physical activity and the duration of the job when choosing underwear. Helly Hansen’s Bodywear’s ability to transport moisture makes it the best choice for hard and varied activity in moderately cold conditions for those trades people who move regularly between indoors and outside work, our Super Stretch and Thermal Underwear/Bodywear collections are ideal in that respect or for those trades people who have to endure more sever conditions the addition of Wool into the underwear mix from our Thermal Wool, Stretch Wool & Terry Wool collections.
Unlikely as it may appear we are also able to recommend our FR Wool Flame Retardant FR EN 531 underwear to those of you who might from time to time find themselves in a flame hazard environment especially those of you who work in the Petro-Chemical Oil and Gas Industry. Made from Merino Wool & FR Viscose fibre Helly Hansen FR Bodywear, provides excellent ventilation and pushes perspiration away from the body. As a result you avoid cooling down during breaks or periods of lower work intensity - so you stay dry, warm and comfortable. Most importantly of all FR Wool is credited with EN 351 Flame Retardant quality.
It is important that before you purchase any workwear you should check the content label of the garment you are choosing. If you see nylon or polyester (also remembering to look at what any zips might be made from), these fibres and content should not be present if the garment has been correctly certified for wear next to skin. If you are a specifier then it will be your neck on the block if things go wrong. Please remember we are here to help you get it right.
